Distribution Board:
Distribution boards are common fittings used for proper distribution of electrical load. The board to which electricity is connected from outside or from the power distribution company to supply electricity to electrical loads used in houses, workshops and factories is called distribution board or DB for short. From the main line of the PDB, the connection to the DB is made through the service line. DB is installed under the stairs of multi-storied buildings. And SDB is used to connect from different floors to different floors and from different rooms to different load points. The distribution board consists of insulated copper bars or sheets, called busbars. In case of single phase at least two leaves and in case of three phase four leaves or busbars are installed . The distribution board has service entrance on one side and SDB or load circuit connection on the other. It has a neutral wire connection. DBs are usually equipped with circuit breakers, MCBs and fuses. According to the phase system DB is divided into single phase and three phase. Based on the current carrying capacity, the distribution board can be up to 15 A, 30 A, 50 A, 100 A, 200 A and 300 A.
Sub-Distribution Board:
SDB is supplied with electricity from the distribution board. Typically 800 to 1000 watts or 8 to 10 load circuits are connected per SDB. A distribution board has several sub distribution boards under it.
