Defination of Electronics: The word electronics is derived from the word electron. The branch of engineering which deals with the movement of current caused by the flow of electrons through a vacuum, gas or semiconductor is called electronics.
Types of Components: Electronics components are divided into two categories namely:
- Active component
- passive component
Active Components: Active components are a type of electronics component that supplies power to a circuit. Eg: Transistor, Diode .
Diode: Diode is a Two Terminal Device. A device formed by joining a p-type semiconductor and an n-type semiconductor together is called a p-n junction diode or diode. This is also called a rectifier diode.
Light Emitting Diode: Light Emitting Diode is abbreviated as LED. It is a diode that emits light. And this light is emitted only when electric current flows through the diode. The color of light emitted from it can be red, yellow or green depending on the type of semiconductor material.
Zener Diode: Zener diode is a special type of reverse biased p-n junction diode that operates in the breakdown region. Other diodes dissipate in this region.
Photo Diode: Photo diode is a type of diode whose PN junction works when light falls on it i.e. current flows through it.
Transistor: A transistor is a three-terminal device . A device formed by connecting a p-type or an n-type semiconductor with one opposite type (n or p, respectively) semiconductor is called a transistor. A transistor is a three-terminal device . A device formed by connecting a p-type or an n-type semiconductor with one opposite type (n or p, respectively) semiconductor is called a transistor.
MOSFET (Meatal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor): Meatal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor is an Electronics devices. MOSFET is a three terminals device, with gate(G), Drain(D) and Source(S) terminals. The main principle of a MOSFET its able to control the voltage and current flow between the Drain and Source Terminals. Its also works like as switch.
Thyristor: Thyristor is a type of semiconductor device which is divided into four levels. It has three terminals, the terminals are called anode, cathode and gate respectively. It works like a kind of switch. If any supply is positive or negative in its gate, current flows from its anode to cathode.
IC (Integrated Circuit): An IC is an electronic circuit suitable for performing a specific task. That is, when a number of components such as transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors, etc., required to complete a specific electronic task are inserted into a small semiconductor chip through interconnection, then this chip is called an integrated circuit or IC.
Passive Component: Passive Components A type of electronics components that can only receive power are called passive components. Eg: Resistor, Capacitor, Inductor, Transformer.
Resistor: Resistor is a device that is used to supply the required voltage to all devices by blocking the flow of current in various types of electronic devices used in the circuit and causing the line voltage to drop.
Capacitor: A device made by separating two metal sheets with a non-conductive material and filling the empty space with air or some other non-conductive material is called a capacitor.
Inductor: A device that resists the change in current flow through a line is called an inductor. Any change in the flowing current is hindered due to the special religion or characteristic is called inductance.
